SLIMMERS in Burton joined together 2 day diet new to boost around ?¨º5,000 for charity because they took part in the Race for a lifetime.

People in Slimming World throughout the town taken part in the event at Hicks Lodge, Moira, over the weekend, taking the total number within the group to more than 100.

Stacey Goodfellow, who runs weekly Slimming World classes in Branston and Rolleston, told the Mail: "It would be a fantastic event having a real feel-good atmosphere. We had young, old, men and women participants enter, having a selection of different abilities and fitness levels. Entrants could run, walk, cycle or skate across the finish line, anything they wanted - as long as they crossed the conclusion line we didn't mind at all."

It had been part of a broader Slimming World does Race for Life event happening round the UK.

Many of the slimmers took the opportunity 2 day diet strong of the race to obtain fitter and much more active throughout their weight loss journey.

All the money raised through the run will go to Cancer Research UK to finance investigations into life-saving treatments for cancer.
